Welcome, Guest.

Berkeley Nanotechnology Club Events

Our major events are listed below. Please click on the graphic banner for details about the event, including information about how to get involved!

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming meeting this Thursday, October 2, at 7:30 pm in 2301 Tolman Hall. We will be starting the elections process for the club, so please make sure to show up if you are interested in becoming an officer. The Nano Club is wholly student run—please consider getting involved!

Our meeting will feature a discussion of difficulties for transistors at the nanoscale and work being done at Berkeley to address these issues. As traditional transistor sizes reach the nanoscale, problems arise due to electrostatic and quantum effects. This creates complications for increasingly compact memory and faster processing. Come listen to EECS graduate student Reinaldo Vega, of the Tsu-Jae King group, give a talk on the challenges facing transistor design and operation at the nanoscale. More information and an abstract can be found below.

As always, we will be providing pizza and drinks. Please feel free to email us with any questions (kayte@berkeley.edu). We hope to see you there!

When: Thursday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: 2301 Tolman Hall

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The 2008 Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum will feature panels on nano electronics, solar technology, health care, business and public policy, as well as distinguished speakers such as
  • Dr. Supriyo Datta, Thomas Duncan Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University; Director, the NASA Institute for Nanoelectronics and Computing
  • Dr. Liwei Lin, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, UC Berkeley; Co-Director, Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center
  • Dr. Donald Lucas, Staff Scientist, Environment Energy Technologies Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

A poster session and break-out sessions round out the agenda.
